Visiting the museum

  • • The main entrance to the Museum is accessible to visitor with reduced mobility.
  • • Courtesy wheelchair available.
  • • There are emergency routes and emergency exits: ground floor and second floor are accessible to the visitors with reduced mobility. The Alarm device is both visual and audible.
  • • The Museum has an elevator (its door is 75 cm wide) located on the left of the entrance.
  • • There is a restroom for disabled on the ground floor.
  • • A changing table is available at the entrance of the toilet area.
  • • Parking: in Via Monte di Pietà with spaces for people with disabilities.

Social inclusion

The Poldi Pezzoli Museum pursues social inclusion with commitment and sense of responsibility, in collaboration with other qualified entities and institutions. In 2021 the Museum carried out the following projects curated by Stefania Rossi, head of social inclusion projects, with the collaboration of Camila Amoros, art historian, and Maddalena Camera, cultural mediator.

The museum also works to ensure that the deaf community has targeted and easy accessibility to the artistic heritage, meeting their specific needs in ways that have been tested and implemented in collaboration with the National Board for the Deaf (ENS).

The Poldi Pezzoli Museum by virtue of an agreement with the Center for Restorative Justice and Criminal Mediation of the Municipality of Milan implements a series of educational paths for minors subject to criminal measures.

Teens and the Museum

In 2015, the Museum began a collaboration with the City of Milan’s Adolescent Education Service (SEA) and the Center for Restorative Justice and Criminal Mediation to provide an opportunity for 11- to 16-year-olds at risk of marginalization to broaden their cultural experiences.

Art Has No Age

An inclusion project dedicated to visitors of the third age created thanks to the support of Rotary Club Milano Est and with the involvement of the Museum’s Youth Group and the inCerchio Association, which works to protect and promote the rights of frail people.

The Poldi Pezzoli Museum proposes and develops paths and activities aimed at combating school dropout and educational poverty among children and families.

The Privileged Guests project, implemented in 2014/2015 and supported by the Intesa San Paolo Charitable Fund, enabled the Museum to implement a specific hosting program for disadvantaged groups such as minors in difficulty and to offer a rich summer offer specifically designed for families.

Poldo, the little ghost, was born as the narrating voice of the audio guides that have been accompanying young visitors to discover the Museum since 2005. He is a little ghost who inhabits the rooms of what had once been the apartment of Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli.
