The Poldi Pezzoli Artistic Foundation, established by Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli in his will dated August 3, 1871, is a great example of a successful synergy between public and private institutions.

This cooperation, intended by the art collector Gian Giacomo, has been implemented and enforced in the 2012 statute, studied by the former President Mario Cera during his two terms of office. The statute requires a governance by a Board of Trustees, a Management Committee and various private Institutions. The Poldi Pezzoli Artistic Foundation changes its board of Trustees every three years.

Alongside the representatives of the traditionally present public entities, such as the Ministry of Culture, the Lombardy Region, the City of Milan and the Soprintendenza Archeologia Belle Arti e Paesaggio of the metropolitan city of Milan, the Board includes representatives appointed by the Associazione Amici del Museo Poldi Pezzoli and the heirs of Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli, and members appointed by the subsidizing entities: Intesa Sanpaolo, Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lombardia, Van Cleef & Arpels, Immobiliare Molgora Spa, FP.

I intend to devote myself to the Poldi Pezzoli Artistic Foundation with the commitment of a civil servant, working pro bono for the museum. This, obviously, together with the Board of Trustees, where I have been the representative of Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli’s heirs since 1989.
