Collector Museums Network

Thanks to the generosity of many collectors, some European cities have now important museums allowing residents and visitors to enjoy the items these men and women had collected with passion throughout their lives.  Antonis Benaki, William Burrell, Calouste Gulbenkian, Frederic Marès and Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli  shared a  passion for collecting as well as an educational purpose, so that at the end of  their  lives they cared about the future of their collections. The Benaki Museum in Athens, the Burrell Collection in Glasgow, the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon, the Museu Frederic Marès in Barcelona and the Poldi Pezzoli Museum in Milan have decided to honour the men that created them by working together on projects focusing on the figure of the collector. The results of the collaboration between these institutions will be conferences, exhibitions and/or publications.
