Antique and modern libraries

The Poldi Pezzoli has an antique library and a modern one.

Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli’s library has been part of the Museum, since its opening in 1881. The modern library has been created later and it is located in via Bigli 19.

Antique library

3500 Volumes; among them: 4 manuscripts, 33 incunabula, and 623 16th century editions. It is possible to see the books sending  in advance an e-mail request.

The Istituto Centrale del Catalogo Unico – progetto EDIT 16 catalogued the 16th century editions. To see them click the link, then click SEARCH, then Titles and write in Location the code MI1354.

Opening hours
The library is open during the Museum’s opening hours: everyday, except on Tuesday, from 10 a.m to 6 p.m

We offer:

  • E-mail delivery of documents
  • Internet access
  • Bibliographic assistance.

Please Note that photocopies are not allowed and the books are not on loan.

Bibliographical exchange: the Museum exchanges books with  cultural institutions. Please contact us.

Opening hours
The library is open to the public booking in advance. From Monday to Friday, 2 p.m. – 5.30 p.m.
